Three years ago, Delta Upsilon and Phi Sigma Sigma were fortunate enough to be paired with a new Four Diamonds family, the Testas. Our THON child, Daniel, is eight-years-old and has a sister, Leila, who is almost five. Daniel was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma, a type of cancer that attacks the nervous system, prior to reaching his second birthday. He defeated his cancer when he was two. We are proud to say that he is now six years cancer free!

Daniel loves to play just about any sport and roots for all Philadelphia professional sports teams- especially the 76ers. His sister is a bundle of joy also, always putting a smile on everyone’s faces.

Our pairing of organizations enjoys spending endless amount of time with the Testa family throughout the year. We plan many events, including going to 76ers games, Hershey Park, THON soccer, Family Carnival, and plenty of other events to stay close with the family.

We have been fortunate enough to have the opportunity to see the direct impact of all the fundraising efforts throughout the year through our relationship with the Testa family. We see how all the money made it possible for them not to worry about anything and only focus on Daniel. They have expressed to us that without THON they don’t know how they would have gotten through it. We will continue to raise money and awareness for pediatric cancer in hope that one day there will be a cure and no parent will have to hear the words, “your child has cancer”.
